About Me
The Trochilidae
I am a photographer from Texas, and my passion for urban exploration began in 2009. With a keen eye for detail, I specialize in capturing abandoned spaces, revealing the rich histories and stories ingrained within them. My photography is characterized by a striking ability to blend artistic vision with historical narrative, emphasizing the interplay of light and shadow to highlight the intricate details and textures of these historical locations.
I choose my subjects through a combination of thorough research and serendipity during planned road trips, discovering that some of the best locations are found along the way to other spectacular sites. This approach allows me to uncover hidden gems that tell compelling stories.
Possessing a deep appreciation for local history, I understand its vital role in shaping community identities and how it often diverges from broader historical narratives and emphasizes the unique experiences of different populations.
Each photograph serves as a window into the past, inviting viewers to contemplate the lives that once inhabited these spaces and sparking curiosity about the socio-economic transformations that have led to their decline. Engaging with individuals who have firsthand knowledge of these locations adds depth to my work, allowing me to convey their significance authentically.
Through my lens, I aim to provoke thought and inspire appreciation for the often-overlooked stories of the past, underscoring the importance of preserving our cultural heritage for future generations. In addition to my current projects, I am also working on several other books that continue to explore the themes of history, community, and the beauty of forgotten spaces.
